Drochaid Welcomes our new Reserach Scientist Alberto Gonzalez-Fernandez

May 9, 2025

Alberto Gonzalez became a Research Scientist at Drochaid in April 2025. He earned his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Granada and pursued a PhD in catalysis at Heriot-Watt University, focusing on the selective hydrogenation of acetylene derivatives. His doctoral research resulted in the publication of four peer-reviewed papers.

After completing his PhD, Alberto undertook postdoctoral research at Cardiff University, collaborating with BP and Johnson Matthey on carbon dioxide valorisation using high-pressure, high-throughput reactors. He possesses extensive expertise in the synthesis, characterization, and catalytic testing of heterogeneous catalysts, with practical experience in operating both autoclave reactors and continuous plug flow systems.

Welcome Alberto !
